Shivaram Gopalakrishnan represents everything Imagineer believes in: openness, pragmatism, gratitude and integrity. Described by his teammates as going above and beyond to understand complex issues, lend a helping hand and learn new skills to improve the company. Shivaram has been an integral member of our Clienteer Engineering team, helping with data migrations, software updates and complex professional services projects. Shivaram's positive, can-do attitude has made him one of Imagineer's go-to problem solvers. And what better way to celebrate Shivaram than in the month commemorating his 4 year anniversary at Imagineer!

1. Tell me about your journey to your current role as Implementation and Support Engineer at Imagineer:

"I earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Mumbai University in India in 2013.  During my undergrad, I discovered my passion for programming, and upon nearing graduation, I decided I would pursue a master's degree in Computer Science in the United States. I chose NYU's Computer Science Program here in New York because it is one of the best in the country. It was a difficult decision to pack up my things and leave my friends and family in India, but I knew this was the best next step in my career and I can confidently say now that it was well worth the risk! After graduating from NYU, I applied to a job at Imagineer and was hired as an Implementation and Support Engineer."

2. What is an interesting fact about yourself?

"Very few people know that I am a trained Indian classical singer. Until I was around 20 years old, I performed in several shows and competitions. I am also a huge fan of Cricket, which is a sport similar to baseball, and I actually won a few Cricket Quiz shows."

3. What is your favorite thing about working at Imagineer?

"Everyday I get to learn something new, whether that is from my supportive teammates or the C-level technology clients I interact with on a daily basis. There has never been a single day when I've done repetitive work and the work itself is challenging and interesting. Above all, I love working with the support team, and from day one, they've been there helping and pushing me to grow my skills as an engineer. "

4. What are you looking forward to the most in 2019?

"Professionally, I'm looking forward to the fun, new challenges the rest of the year will bring as we've been fortunate enough to sign many new clients this year. I will get to play an integral role in helping them cleanse their data and migrate it into Clienteer.

Personally, I get to check something off my bucket list this summer: attend the Cricket World Cup. I'm heading on a trip around the UK stopping in Manchester, Birmingham, and London to watch the Cricket World Cup Semi-Finals and Finals. I'm super excited and fingers crossed, maybe India will take home the trophy!"
